East Coast Canada Destination, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Hosts Major Film Events in September including Canada's 4th Largest Film Festival
Halifax, Nova Scotia (PRWEB) September 16, 2008 -- East Coast Canada (http://novascotia.com/en/home/planatrip/gettingaround/regions/default.aspx) is a film aficionado's favourite destination this month with the Atlantic Film Festival kicking off in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Add to that the September filming of popular Canadian television show, "The Week the Women Went," in Tatamagouche, and Nova Scotia is a buzz about film and TV this month.
Halifax is the hub of the East Coast Canada film industry, and each fall this urban city hosts the Atlantic Film Festival, beginning on September 11, 2008. The film festival runs to September 20, 2008, over ten days, at locations throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia (http://novascotia.com/en/home/funstuff/VideoGallery/halifax/default.aspx). This festival, known for its laid-back atmosphere and everyone-is-welcome feel, features over 250 films, an industry development series, and renowned musicians.
The Atlantic Film Festival features an eclectic array of film representing East Coast Canada as well as international productions. The popular Nova Scotia festival will open with a screening of Blindness, a Canada-Brazil co-production starring Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo, followed by an NBC Universal Canada Opening Night Party with 3,000 guests attending an outdoor street party in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Also slated for September, CBC has chosen Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia as the location for the next instalment of "The Week the Women Went." In the documentary-style production, the women of Tatamagouche will leave for one week, and a film crew will chronicle how the men and children fair during their absence. One of last winter's most popular shows, the Tatamagouche series is scheduled to air in early 2009--one of many upcoming Nova Scotia events (http://novascotia.com/en/home/whattodo/festivalsandevents/signaturefestivalsandevents.aspx) not to be missed.
